moving units at the frisco disco 2003

Really excited I found this footage! 2000-2005 was some of the craziest party years of my life and I’m lucky enough to have some cool Hi-8 footage of a lot of the parties, clubs, and silly things we were doing back then. We had no idea that any of this or any our friends would ever become successful. . . we really didn’t have any idea about what we would be doing the next week.

This show came about because my friend Jen Root was playing a Moving Units demo tape in her car, and it was really good. Somehow I found out that Chris Hathwell was playing drums (from Festival of the Dead Deer, and another band he was in with Jay Hough – Truth Movement I think their name was), so I knew they would be good. The show at Frisco Disco was totally chaotic, lots of sound issues, but everyone was really into it and at that time music was really exciting, more and more bands we’re incorporating dance and electronics into their sound, and the internet was just starting out as a viable way to promote your band… Anyways I could go on and on (and probably will expand on this). But for now, here’s one song by the Moving Units live at The Frisco Disco inside the Arrow Bar. Also of note, Anne Lee of Blow Up LA and PrinceHouse Records fame makes an announcement at the end about merch.

Blake Miller is the lead singer who went on to become a really good friend and do electronic music with some of the best Djs around! Steve Aoki as Weird Science and Le Castle Vania as Lies in Disguise.
